What is a dental emergency?

Whether you’ve had you tooth knocked out during a sporting accident, have a loose filling or even an excruciating mouth ulcer, if you feel like you need to be treated immediately it’s probably a dental emergency.

Emergency dental problems need to be treated as soon as possible to repair any damage, prevent further problems and, of course, get rid of pain! Here are some examples of why you might need an emergency appointment at Kissdental:

  • Severe dental pain or toothache
  • A broken, chipped or cracked tooth
  • A tooth that has been completely knocked out
  • A loose or missing crown or filling
  • Facial swelling around the mouth

But if you have any kind of dental pain at all, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

How Station Square Dental can help in a dental emergency?

We pride ourselves on our ability to provide gold standard dentistry in our friendly, comfortable environment. The same applies for our emergency service and we strive to have you smiling again ASAP! Here are a few examples of how we can get you feeling better in a dental emergency:

Toothache and swelling

Swelling is often caused by an infection known as an abscess. Aside from swelling, symptoms of a dental abscess include severe pain, tenderness to the touch and throbbing pain. Your cheek might also feel warm.
If you have any swelling, contact us immediately. Once we’ve given you the treatment you need, it should quickly start to reduce. We might prescribe antibiotics to soothe any pain.

Extractions

If your tooth is causing extreme pain, in some cases the best thing to do is extract it. Before you make the decision to have an extraction, we’ll talk you through the alternatives to help you make up your mind. We’ll also discuss tooth replacement options with you once you’re on the road to recovery.

Knocked out teeth

Accidents happen and we understand that having a tooth knocked out can be pretty stressful. But try not to panic! If you get to us soon enough, it might be possible to replace your tooth. Pick the tooth up by the crown, give it a gentle clean and place it back in the socket, but don’t try to force it in place. If you’re unable to do this, place the tooth in a container of milk and bring it with you to Kissdental.

Fractured teeth and loose fillings

Both fractured teeth and loose fillings can cause pain and sensitivity, especially if your tooth nerve is exposed. We can provide immediate treatment to help calm these symptoms.

Missing crowns or veneers

As crowns and veneers are cemented onto the tooth, they can cause sensitivity if they become loose, leaving your tooth exposed. We’ll re-cement your crown or veneer without breaking a sweat, but don’t worry if you can’t find the missing restoration. We can fit a temporary one and sort you out with a replacement as soon as possible.
